Aerial Austin Skyline Pano 2 – This is our latest daytime Austin skyline aerial showing the city from east to west view in a two to one panorama in downtown area over Lady Bird Lake.  We capture downtown Austin skyline along lady bird lake shoreline along with the Congress bridge where we captured the Congress bridge and first street bridge that cross Lady Bird Lake into the city.  Austin is a fast growing city with at least thirty to forty new buildings being built in this area with 25 new high rise buildings slated to start in the next year or so, Austin has a population of over a million people now and when I go downtown I always see a lot of new thing building after being in the area for over forty years now. The city of Austin is a modern contemporary city with a lot focus around it parks and hike and bike trail that run around town lake or rather Lady Bird Lake. Most of the high rise buildings have been built in the last ten years in downtown Austin. In this image you can see the Independent and the Austonian which are the two tallest buildings till two more are finished they will be approxiamately two hundred feet taller. The city of austin continues to grow it seems like ever couple of month the landscape changes in the downtown area. Let the race begin for the tallest skyscraper begin in the southern USA. Currently two other citys in Texas hold the title but for how long?

Austin Skyline Dawn Pano – Lady Bird Lake Austin Texas

Austin Skyline Dawn Pano  -Lady Bird Lake Austin Texas – We captured this Austin Skyline before sunrise which is the best time to get some color in the sky right at dawn. Butler Shores was the only place where you can park now as many parking lots are closed in downtown due to the covid19. We wanted to capture the latest Austin skyline before downtown Austin has another transformation as we have two more high rises that they have started on in the last year that will change the skyline again very soon. The two new skyscrapers will be two hundred feet taller than the Independent or Jengal building seen in this image. The Independent now has the top crown lit which many had been waiting to see. In the last couple of years the skyline has added at least a dozen new skyscrapers along the shoreline, many which have blocked some of the old high rise buildings like the austin 360 and the Frost Bank Tower. The frost can still be seen from this angle but in many cases it is not visible any longer. This area is popular because of the many parks and hike and bike trails that are so easily usable in downtown. The city of Austin had a thriving convention business till the covid19 virus that brought many to the area which I am sure will come back soon. Austin has a population of a million people and it sometimes seem they are all downtown with all the condos they have built. Austin Texas has alway had a reputaton of a city with a vibe with it music industry like the SBSW and the ACL festives along with so many small events it too hard to name them all. We have taken many of the Texas skylines and non have had the transformation that Austin Tx has, especially along Lady Bird Lake or town lake as many old timers call it which is part of the highland lakes colorado river chain. Austin is also the home to theTexas Capitol which is one of the largest employer in downtown Austin, along with the many high tech company like Amazon, IBM, Adobe, Google to name a few. Today Austin’s population has reach one million and is one of the fastest growing city in the south.

Austin Skyline Sunrise

Austin Skyline Sunrise – We captured this image Austin skyline before the sun acually broke the horizon on this morning in the downtown area of the city. The sky painted the sky with some pinks, yellow, purple and blues which was a lovely backdrop on this day. We have been trying to capture this shot from congress bridge for some time but there was so much going on with the protest and constant building that we waited for break. Austin Texas is a popular place for tourist to visit with so many things to do, with a great music scene, art events, sporting events and many parks and lake in the area. Austin is on the edge of the Texas hill country another popular place to visit especially in the spring for the wildflower season.  Downtown Austin is beautiful modern city with some unique architecture and new high rises almost yearly.  We will need to come back in a few years as their are plans for two more buildings in the city that will be two hundred feet taller than the tallest building the Independent in Austin now. Austin skyline has been constantly changing so we have tried to catch it as the latest batch of building have been finished. This images captures the congress bridge that leads your eye to the Texas Capitol in downtown Austin. The Texas Capitol is a landmark and favorite tourist attraction to visit when people come to town. Also University of Texas is the largest university in the city and draws a large crowd for their many sporting and school events. In this Austin aerial image you can see the second tallest building the Austonian and the Frost and many others along the water front. Lately the Lady Bird Lake which is this portion of the Colorado river has been getting more and more crowed as they are constanly building new high rises along the colorado river water front. In any case it is a constantly evolving City of Austin skyline.

Austin Congress Bridge Bats

Austin Congress Bridge Bats – The Austin Congress Bridge Bat come out from under the bridge on a nightly basis from March to October every year. It draws a crowd of locals to tourist to see at least once while here. The Ann Richards Congress Bridge bat watch becomes almost a festival event now with hundreds of people on the bridge, on boats and along the hike and bike trail near the American statesman. There are people playing music, selling stuff, almost nightly. The bats can be seen from anywhere in this area but our favorite viewing area is at the bridge. There are something like 1.5 million Mexican Freetail bats that come out after the sun sets but in this time of year there are many more as the baby bat are now flying so there number increase. People come to Austin and along with the State Capital the bats are right there in popularity as a must see while here. The sky picked up this wonderful orange glow as we photographed this scene at the Austin Congress
Bridge bats show as we have done so many times before only this time we had bats! Yes the bats have been very elusive to us at times but it seems this is one of the best time of year to catch them. So we took another chance and went back into downtown Austin to see if we could capture a decent shot. The bats were all coming out at the same time in waves this time so the sky would explode with bats for at least five minutes and then they were gone or separating out to go their own ways. This image capture one of the many shots of the Austin Congress Bridge Bats we photographed on this night.

Austin Bats at Dusk – Well the bats put on a show tonight as millions of mexican free tail bats came out at dusk as the sky had this nice sunset glow still going on. The sun had set and we were thinking about going when they started comming out in droves so it was worth the wait. We have chased the bats over the year as they never come out at the same time. Tonight we still had enough light to capture the bats as they errupted out from under the Congress Bridge right at dusk on Lady Bird Lake. You can see the people on the bridge watching as the bats erupt from under the bridge. It is on most peoples to do list now to go to the Austin bat watch at least once.  The whole thing has taken on a festival like feel as their are musicians playing their music, people selling twisted balloons to the kids and all kinds of other vendors selling something to the crowds of people.  You can view the bats from several locations from the bridge, along the hike and bike trail on Lady Bird lake from the water where you can go by one of the many tour boats or rent a sup or canoe to see the bats.

Austin Congress Bat Watch

Austin Congress Bat Watch – Austin Bat are a tourist attraction that has been going on for many year now. Since the late 1970 when I use to watch the bats from my apartment come out at night from the downtown area it was an amazing site to see. Today it draw tourist and locals alike from all over to watch the bats come out at night. Sometimes it a no show as the the bat leisurely come out through out the evening and some night it a spectacular show of thousand of bats coming out from under the Congress Ave bridge in Austin Texas all at once. It was almost a no show for the evening but we like the sky with this orange glow from the sun set with the spectators waiting for the show to begin right as the sun was going down under the bridge. The bat did come out just as we were heading back to the car but we managed to get a few shots before they were gone. People travel to Austin to see the bats but keep in mind they are only here in large numbers from early spring time to fall after the first cold snap usually late October or early November is when they start their migration for the winter.
