Bluebonnets at the Cattle Guard – While driving the hill country looking for Texas bluebonnets we pass many cattle guards on our journey. The Texas hill country county roads have lot of bluebonnets and plenty of cattle guard and this one had a nice selection of wildflower right at the gate. In the texas hill country you find cattle guards through out these county roads, they allow the cattle to cross the road to graze but not go beyound their property line. I have heard that cattle will not cross them but dont know about other livestock. We liked this gate with cattle guard with this nice patch of bluebonnet wildflowers. Always be mindful that this is private property and do not get off the roadside.
Texas Backroad Bluebonnets – We found this back country road in the Texas hill country with these lovely bluebonnets along this county road. This was our second trip to the area with a blue sky which gave us some nice contrast on the flowers. We had been traveling many of the backroad in the hill country looking for bluebonnets and wildflower before we found this road and we really like the bluebonnets in this area. Texas wildflowers are a seasonal thing that last a few weeks and one thing we have learn is that just when you think they have all gone to seed you may have a section somewhere that pops up later like these along this road. This too will pass as we notice they were starting to go seed by our seccond trip two days later so maybe we will see them again next year. We can only hope!

Dallas Psychedelic Traveling Man – A whismical creation of the 38 foot tall stainless steel robot sculpture in digital psychedelic colors that is shown walking through the Dallas area in an area known as the Deep Ellum. The deep ellum is the area where the rail road had once thrived now it part of the transit rail line. The sculpture was created with element of that area such as the rivet that would of been used on the rail road tracks, the bird because the area had been know for song bird, the guitar shaped head to represent the music in the area and the long legs as his desire to travel and a piece of each is including in all the traveling man series. Each segment comes from the past stories about the area that the artist incorporated into the sculpture. All of these element are meant to tie the history of the area together with a whimsical theme. Here he towers above the city transit train station at 38 feet as he walks along with his little bird on his arm with Dallas skyline in the background in the Deep Ellum area. Oak Tree and Texas Bluebonnets – A wonderful old oak tree among a field of texas bluebonnets down near Poteet Texas south of San Antonio late in the day as the sun sink lower in the sky. There were a lot of field of wildflowers in this area but most had been overtaken by the poppies. The poppies were introduced accidently about ten year ago we heard and unfortunely they have become invasive and in some place you will not see the wildflowers because the poppies have over taken over the areas. There were a few in this field but it was the best bluebonnets we saw since we were a little late to the party in this area. We like this field a lot and we took a few different shot from here. This image was just our beloved texas bluebonnets, an large oak tree, with sime mesquite tree along the fringes of the field with a few poppies mixed in on this ranch in south central area of the country for a nice Texas landscape. The texas bluebonnet is the state flower and begin with a small hard seed and over time the rain, wind will soften the seed so it can germinate in the fall and slowly over time it begins to take root and it bright green leave come out every spring usually from March to the end of April. That when it all begins and the flowers start to put on a spring show. No doubt that what happen in this great field of bluebonnets out south of San Antonio. We were lucky that they were allowed to grow in this field so we could capture this image. We look forward to the yearly show of bluebonnets that come out for such a short time.
