Texas Windmill with Milky Way – We captured this celestial night sky with this Texas windmill with the water tank in silouette between some trees as the night sky was full of stars with the milky way just overhead. You can see that the windmill was spinning on this night with only a slight breeze we heard the windmill even before we got out of the car. Also we liked the added touch of the silouette of the prickly pear in the scene just to the right of windmill. The night sky with the stars and the galaxy overhead with a windmill is one of those iconic Texas thing we like to capture in a starscape. The milkyway is the galaxy that contains our solar system. The term milky is derived from the appearance from earth of the galaxy. The stars that make up the milky way are giant, luminous spheres of plasma and the galaxies consist of stars, stellar remnants, dust, gas, and dark matter, bound together by gravity. This starry night scene with wind mill and galaxy is iconic scene thoughout the Texas hill country it just finding one that not too close to a city. Oh the really bright star to the left of the windmill is the planet Venus. The Texas night sky can be awesome if you can find a place where it is not over run with light pollution from nearby cities. Many places have taken the dark skies initiative which reguired cut off lighting which has help a lot. Normally we might go to far west texas for a starscapes, but things are not up and running as normal because of covid 19 this year.
Milkyway At the Ranch – In Texas we say everything is bigger that includes the stars in the Milky Way we just capture in this nightscapes in this summer sky over this ranch land in the Hill Country. These days it is now getting harder and harder to capture those stars images because of light polution from even small towns so we have to travel farther and farther out in the Texas Hill Country to capture a night sky where there a lot of stars without a lot of light pollution. In this image we had to go west past Llano Texas just to find an area where we could even see the milky way. We did manage to find a ranch with a nice gate and waited till the Milky Way was just right and light paint gate just enough so we had a soft light on the gate with the galaxy behind.
