Scenic Fall Frio River

Scenic Fall Frio River – We captured this scenic fall frio river on one of our many trips this year into the hill country to capture the autumn season in Garner State Park and nearby areas. The image of the bald cypress which were turning different shades of orange, to rusty red color for the fall season and gave some nice reflections in the water we thought gave the feeling of serenity. I think this is one of my many favorites fall landscape from here from this location in the texas hill country, This fall landscape image of these wonderful cypress tree was the winning part of this image. In the Texas hill country. we don’t have a big fall season, but this year turn out very nice for the Texas Hill country. It is alway dependent on weather condition not being too hot or dry then we can get see some nice autumn colors in the area. In Texas we go from drought to floods not to mention the temperature can affect the color changes. So if our summers not too bad and we get a little more rain then we can see some fall colors changes on some years. If not then the leave will fall off before they change colors. Always a delicate dance with mother nature. Luckily for us this year looks like we are getting some nice color. Getting to the park when it open was the best time to capture the best light. The light was soft, and with no wind the water was still and we captured some excellent reflections of the bald cypress up the Frio River in the Garner with nice blue skies and whispy clouds. Cypress trees turn a golden shade and then turn a rusty red right before they go brown and fall off. Garner State Park is a popular park and it visited year round by many people in some cases they close the park before noon for day visiters especially in the summer time because as usual it is loved to death. Still it worth a visit to the Texas Hill country no matter what time of year it is.

Sunrise Under the Pier

Sunrise Under the Pier – We had started working our way down the Texas Coast beach in Port Aransas early morning before sunrise and just as the sun was slightly above the horizon we shot this one and loved the look of the underside of the Caldwell Pier. Today the sunrise under the pier was just peeking above the horizon reflecting off the clouds and surf below as it gently rolled in carry some sea weed with the morning light for a nice coastal scene. The sun light was also reflecting off the water and wet sand which reflected the sunrise colors back under the pier to make for a pretty texas coastal landscape scene. The texas coast is located in the gulf of mexico and Port A has about 18 miles of beach with plenty to do from sport fishing, parasailing, swimming, surfing, birding, and many other event on the island to keep you from getting board. Just to get to the island can require a ferry ride to get to the island or you can come around the long way as we call it through Corpus Christi maybe a thirty drive down the shoreline of mustang island.

In this scene this old bridge sets the stage for this wonderful fall scenery as it cross over the buffalo river below. Texas Hill Country Blue Bonnets

Heavenly Texas Hill Country Blue Bonnets – Texas Wildflower Landscapes Canvas and Prints – Remembering this particular year of wildflowers I mean what could be better than the Texas hill country blue bonnets in spring and on this year with what seems to be endless field of flowers before you it hard to beat. Seeing this many bluebonnets in one place can bring out all kind of thing out in a photographer, its like your a kid in a candy store. Muleshoe Park which is an LCRA park along the Colorado river was overrun with bluebonnet wildflower on this particular spring. For us it meant several trips to try and capture these spectacular Texas Hill Country blue bonnetit before they were gone or at least before they were driven over and destroyed by all the cars, trucks and people who showed up for the wildflowers event. I think we arrived in the knick of time and capture this wonderful image just as the sun was setting over this field of bluebonnet wildflowers. Did not hurt that we were able to capture this wonderful sunset with it heavenly glow of orangse and pink colors in the sky with the Texas Hill Country and blue bonnets wildflowers for the perfect day. All you can see in this landscape is a field of endless bluebonnets wildflowers with the saltgrass growing along the bountries in Muleshoe Park. How this happen we are not sure but the area had been under drought condition this year and the water dropped leaving this area exposed again and I guess the seeds had washed into the lake and were sitting just waiting for some sunlight so some good can come out of a drought, who knew. This year was by far the best field of bluebonnets I have ever seen and unfortunately the second year this area at the park did not come back with bluebonnets, but the other side still of the park had enough flowers to satisfiy most. These bluebonnets only lasted till the drought lifted and then they were again covered by waters of the Colorado river and gone. They have never come back like this since only small patches along the waters edge. In my opnion this years crop of bluebonnet which was only around for two year was and is the Best Images of Texas Hill Country Bluebonnets we have ever had the opportunity to photograph. I might be a little bias.

This Lake is one of the largest reservoir of water along the Highland lakes. We have taken many sunset images from the Oasis on Lake Travis and this is my favorite.  Every scenic sunset image we have capture from here is unique and today was not the exception. The Oasis Restaurant sits on a bluff 450 feet over the lake has some of the best decks to view the sunsets around central Texas. Oasis restaurant has been here for thirty years over looking the big bowl at Lake Travis.  In 2005 a lightning strike cause parts of the restaurant to catch on fire and almost burn down completely.  Only parts of the restaurant were destroyed and it reopen a few weeks later but the older wooden part were eventually replaced with the newer buildings along with a parking garage.  This newer parts including shops, cafes, and other restaurants many of which have great views also.  In any case the Oasis is a great place to come and have a meal and margarita and watch the sunset on any day. Just another beautiful panorama sunset in the Texas hill country over looking Lake Travis. Lake Travis is loccated on the western edge of Austin at the foothills of the Texas Hill Country.  Lake Travis is the largest reservoir along the highland lakes in Texas is a very popular spot for swimming, boating, fishing, scuba diving, and picnicking.

Sunset Over Lake Travis

Check out our latest capture of a Lake Travis sunset. This is another capture of this great sunset over Lake Travis. Today we had a full lake and nice sky right before the sunset and gave us this beautiful sky. The Lake was built as a reserve on the Colorado river which holds excess waters from flash floods. Lake Travis is the largest storage of water in the Highland Lakes. The reserve was built in 1942 after the construction of Mansfield dam near Austin by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). The lake goes from Austin upstream for 65 miles along the Colorado river. Lake Travis was not designed for recreation use but it is one of the most populars places to boat, swim, fish, picnicking, suba diving along with many other activities because of it clear waters. This area of Lake Travis is also a scenic location overlooking the big bowl of the lake. Tourist and locals come here to try and capture one of the spectacular sunsets. This image was taken a short time after the first similar one as the sunset was more intense. This lake is the most popular spot for people from Austin and other Texas cities to visit every summer. This lake is about 20 minutes from Austin and is a very popular location to come and watch the sunset, boating, swimming or whatever water activities you like. The water quality here is pretty good so in many places you have good visibility for snorkeling or diving.
