Bluebonnet sunrise along the river just as the sun ray pop over the horizon to wish us good morning. The Texas bluebonnet is the most popular wildflower as people come from long way off just to see them. I have met people who traveled from California who came to see the bluebonnets here. Of course not all years are great it has to do with the fall rains not enough and these hardy plants may not show their best, but just wait a year and maybe the next year will do it. In any case the Texas bluebonnet is still the most popular wildflower people have festival for them, name their towns as the bluebonnet capital so who are we to question them. We loved the tranquility of this image with the sunrise over the water and a nice field of bluebonnets with a tents along the river edge. Spring time in the Texas hill country can be magicali f your in the right place and it bluebonnet season. Lady Bird started this with her Highway Beautification Act and we are so happy she did!
We capture this New Orleans skyline in downtown area around dusk as the high rise building light came on and it created this nice reflections in the Mississippi River. There was stil a little color in the sky from the sunset just enough to gve it some pop over the cityscape with some oranges and pinks mingle with the dark clouds. This New Orlean skyline pano was taken from across the Mississippi River at dusk. The view of the city high rise buildings along the shore line makes for a nice image as the building reflect in the water shortly after sunset. New Orleans is the largest city in the state of Louisiana population of around 1.5 million people. The city attract tourist from all over the world with its many popular neighborhoods such as the famous French Quarters, Jackson Square and many more area of interest. Beside Bourbon street and french quarter there are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the area. New Orleans also has a lot of things to do such as World War Museum, Art Museums, Aquarium, or even a visit to the city cementaries, plus you can enjoy a visit to the Superdome home of the New Orleans Saints. Check out these seasonal fall colors among the trees along the Frio river in the Texas Hill Country. These images were taken in Concan and Garner State Park in the Texas hill country along the Frio river as the leave were changing colors on the maple and cypress trees last year. Concan is a small community in Uvalde County in the southwestern portion of the Hill Country of Texas. It sits along the Frio River close to Garner State Park. Every year it is a popular spot for summer vacationers. Garner State Park is located in the community of Concan,Texas. Garner State Park, is the most popular state park in Texas for vacationers. If you want to get one of the cabins or shelters here you better make your reservation early or you might now be able to get one. Even for campers the park fills up during peak season before noon on many days. As a child we went there almost every year for three weeks every summer and they were some of the best vacation times in my memory. The park has lots to do in the area you can swim, kayak, paddle boat, hike, bird watch, horseback riding, bike or explore the area around the park. One of the most popular thing that draw the locals to the park is the nightly dances at the pavillion beginning in the spring and summer. You don’t need to stay in the park there are plenty of other places in Concan to camp or stay along the Frio River but again if you plan a vacation there in the summer peak season you better plan it early to make your reservation. The word Frio is the Spanish word for cold, so keep that in mind before you jump in to the river. The Frio river is to me one of the pretties rivers with it clear emerald waters in Texas.
This is another capture of the mansion and oak trees right before the sun was fully up and before the mist lifted on this early morning at the Oak Alley Plantation which I thought worked best as a black and white image. This misty look give this image a moody feel with the mansion and large old oaks in BW as the the morning mist settles over the property seems to transport you back in time. The Oak Alley plantation is a popular spot for tourist looking for history of the deep south and a feel for what life long ago was like on these plantations. The plantation was created in the early 1800’s as a surgar cane plantation and was worked by slaves so it rich in historic value. The plantation got it name from the many live oak trees that were planted over 300 years ago prior to the plantations existance. Some refer to this area as Oak valley or Seven Oaks and it is near the community of Vacherie St James Parish in Louisiana. Many movies has been made here especially including anything releated to the deep south civil war era along with many spooky movies. The Oak Alley Plantation is a National Historic Landmark as it is rich in history and is visited by many toursit yearly. The Foudation maintains the property today for the this historic site.
