Oueen Isabella Memorial Causeway Panorama – Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway Bridge is the only road to South Padre Island from Port Isabel. Many tourist come to Padre Island for the blue waters and the miles of white sandy beaches. The area is also supported by commercial fishing, tourism, and the petroleum industry. In 1978 the Port Isabel Ship Channel was dredged to thirty-six feet in depth and 200 feet in bottom width to allow larger barges and ship. South Padre island is located in south Texas and not far from the Mexico US border. This is in far south Texas but it is visited by many who come for all over for the nice subtropical weather and white sandy beaches every year. This is also a popular spot for spring break but it also has a large RV following especially in the off seasons.
Fall in the Texas Hill Country – Texas hill country landscape canvas and prints – This is the clear waters of the Frio River as it flow downstream from Garner State Park with the cypress trees and maple trees lining the river showing their fall color on this day. The sun was just at the right level to send it rays through this cypress tree and shine down into the river and show all the river rocks. Autumn in the Texas hill country is my favorite time of the year it can be colorful as the cypress turn this rusty shade of orange to red and the maple change from yellow to orange along the blue green waters of the Frio river in this texas landscape. In the background you can see Old Baldy from the other side of Garner State Park a favorite climbing spot for many to the area.
Fall at Garner State Park – Texas Landscape Fall Prints and Canvas – The long branches of the cypress trees stretch out their limbs over the Frio river as it flows downstream toward the Old Baldy before it makes a turn downstream. You can see the fall rusty red colors in the cypress trees along the bank of the Frio. The sun was shining on the other side and you can see the color changes of the maples and reflect the colors back into the waters. After some heavy rains the water was flowing on the Frio river through Garner State Park so the cypress were in the water so I waded out into the cold waters and capture this image so I could capture Old Baldy in the back ground in this photo.
Rural Covered Bridge Fall – On the back roads of the Ozark we found this covered Bridge with all the autumn colors around it. In this scene this old bridge sets the stage for this wonderful fall scenery as it cross over the buffalo river below. The sugar maples seem to surrounded this old bridge just for this picture perfect moment for a beautiful scene. This area is part of the Ozarks National Forest in Arkansas from some of the back roads along this scenic drive. Fall in arkansas was a real surprise as this year trees really puts on a show with some fantastic fall scenery and color that we never knew was so close to us. Our plan was to go to the Smoky mountains but the weather wasn’t working out so we reschedule for Arkansas and it did not disappoint us with great fall colors.
Covered Bridge Reflections – We decided to photograph this covered bridge from below along the Buffalo creek inorder to get this reflections in the water. We had this wonderful maple tree with it fall colors on display along side of the bridge with this creek flowing into a larger pool of water and giving us this wonderful reflection of the bridge. This area of the country is part of the national forest in the Ozarks and is beautiful in fall with so much color. We were pleasantly surprised that their was so much color left in the ozarks national forest. We had planned to go to the Smokie mountains but the weather was not going to work so we re-routed to Arkansas and happy we did.
Austin Skyline From Above Pano – Another Aerial Austin skyline with the latest view along Lady Bird Lake with the hike and bike trail along the waters edge at twilight. This austin skyline includes the new tallest building in the cityscape the Independent or Jingle as some call it, plus our second tallest the Austonian, plus the Google new home, the Northshore condos which have been added recently, along with the W building, the Bowie, the Ashton and another new one at the far end the Fairmont Hotel and so many others its hard to name them all. Oh lets not forget the Frost building just barely peeping out from behind the Ashton and other new arrivals. Another city high rise you can just barely see anymore is the Austin 360 as the new high rises have almost completely block its view from here. Austin is a fast growing city with all of it sky-scrapers built in the last ten year so it is has a modern cityscape in downtown and is constantly changing for good or bad. Much of the growth of the city growth has been the large number of high tech companies which have move here to the city in the last five year or so. Austin is also the state capital and it is home to a major school the University of Texas. The city contines to draw tourist and people wanting to vist or live in this lively modern city with it well know night life being the music capital of the world and it great life style. However with that said I must mention the draw back from the increase traffic which can be a complete night mare at time. 8332

Lake Travis is outside of Austin in the Hill Country which is a favorite place for locals and tourist to come and you can’t miss the Oasis restaurant for some good food and drinks as you watch the sunset set.The Oasis Sunset Pano – The Oasis sunset is the best place to capture a sun set which is located in the Texas Hill country outside Austin on Lake Travis. The restaurant is located in far west Austin at the foothills of the Texas Hill Country on Lake Travis. The Oasis restaurant likes to promote itself as the “Sunset Capital of Texas” with it decks facing west for maximum sunset views. The restaurant sit on a bluff about 450 feet over the lake overlooking the big bowl at the lake. Lake Travis is part of the Highland lakes, after Mansfield dam was built in 1942 it became the largest reservoir for water storage creating the largest area of water where the Oasis overlook is. The Oasis restaurant is popular with locals and tourist and it not uncommon to find buses lined up in the parking lot. Golden Glow Over Bluebonnets – This was taken on the colorado river as the sunrise cast this golden glow over bluebonnets with these golden clouds cast their warm colors over this amazing field of wildflowers. Springtime in the Texas hill country is my favorite time because of all the wonderful wildflowers everywhere, especially when you come across a big field of bluebonnets like this it can be a magical landscape. These blueboonets were taken along the Colorado river in the Hill Country at sunrise as the sky and cloud had this golden glow. The Texas bluebonnets are a variety of blue wildflowers that grow in the State of Texas every spring which are of the genus Lupinus. Originally in 1901 the state declare only one blue bonnet the state flower however, in 1971 the Texas legislature declare that any flower found to be similar to Lupinus be declared the state flower. The name bluebonnet was from the look of the top of white part of the flower that was similar to the bonnet that woman wore on their heads in the pioneering days. The popularity of the blue bonnet grew after Lady Bird Johnson had push the Highway Beautification Act where she encorage everyone to plant native wildflowers along highways in the state. Today you can find wildflowers along many roads in Texas and the Texas Hill County has been known as one of the better places to find them. Bluebonnets love soil that drain wells and you will find them easily growing along the slopping areas along the roads. Of course some years are better than others but you don’t have to drive too far into the hill country to find them along the roads. It is almost that time for the bluebonnets to bloom anywhere between the middle of March to the middle of April depending on where and if we got the right amount of rain and sun here in central Texas. We also have other wildflowe that show up near the same time like Indian Paintbrush it changes year to year it is alway fun to see what will show up every spring.
Fireworks over Lake Austin –
Its that time again, Austin Fireworks over Lake Austin from the 360 bridge. Here is a image from the fireworks we took at Lake Austin firework show. What I like is all the boats in the water watching the show from their boats. It is a great way to see some fireworks. No matter what your doing for the big holiday grilling out with family and friends it always good to topped off the evening with some local fireworks and what better way than by boat if you can. Don’t worry if you don’t have a boat you can watch from land too or go to the many other places including downtown Austin for some fireworks and symphony along with many small towns in Central Texas area for their fireworks. This images capture the show of Austin Fireworks on Lake Austin from the Austin 360 bridge or Pennyback bridge. This fireworks show over Lake Austin is put on by the country clubs and not every year do they have one or sometimes they do it on other times, so it pot luck as to if they have one this year or not. It is not posted anywhere so you just have to hope it on for this year.
