Images at Terminal D at Bush Intercontinental Airport - We have seven large fine art prints going into the new Bush Intercontinental Airport in Terminal D (IAH) it is also called the Mickey Leland International Terminal. This project has taken several years to get to this point of prints finally ready to be installed. Since all the prints going to be very large we had to spend quite a bit of time carefully select which images could go that big. This took quiet a bit of effort over the last 3 years to get to this point. 2 of the prints will be 15 ft wide and one will be 36 foot by 10 foot with the smallest print is 8 foot tall. One of the images had to be so detailed we used the pixel shift function in the camera in a controlled studio setup to get an file that was 256mpix in resolution and sharp enough to be able to size it up and have the resolution for the 15ft wide print, see the Mexican blankets image below.

Here are the images that were selected for the IAH Houston airport and a few shots from the designer of some of the first prints to come in. Once they are all installed which is estimated around April 2024 we hope that we get to go and see the prints in person and get some pictures of the final install. I will add more images as they come in.

Colors of Historic Market Square

Colors of Historic Market Square - The Historic Market Square is an area of San Antonio where they sale a wide range of things that are very festive and colorful such as these panchos and mexican blankets. These are all part of San Antonio Mexican heritage that can be found on the three block pedestrian mall in downtown san antonio. You can find an indoor maket much like you might find along the boder towns of Mexico but your unlikely to get the same kind of deals as you are south of the border. These are the colors of mexican blankets, and the flags that fly over the market where you can purchase these plus hats, boots, day of the dead t-shirt or other items or instead enjoy one of the many restaurants offering mexican food or other foods from the food booths along the plaza or enjoy some live music and entertainment. This is just one the citys landmarks for the city of san antonio and one of the most popular tourist destination.

Texas Hill Country Bluebonnets Field Pano 2

Texas Hill Country Bluebonnets Field Pano 2 - We took this image of this very field of bluebonnets seven years ago and that image has been one of favorites so this year the field came back and here is 2021 images at sunset from here. This great field of bluebonnets at sunset finally came back after years of no flowers in the Texas hill country and we returned several times trying to catch a good sunset and today we had sucess. This field has not come back till this year since we took the image years ago. They say bluebonnets or lupines come out evey other year but this field is not following these guidelines. We capture this in the Texas Hill Country in Burnet county, but every year is different and you never know where these kind of fields will show up. This field of bluebonnets looked like ocean waves of blue in this field and the sunset cast this nice orange and reddish glow over the fiield of blue wildflowers. Bluebonnet or Lupines which is a large variety of flowers which grow very well in the southern US and is the state flower in Texas. Texas lupines wildflowers can come in many colors, from blue to violet to purple, red to pink and even white.

Anhinga

Anhinga - Anhinga or as some call it the snake bird because of it long neck which can be seen in the water looking like a snake. Anhinga mean devil bird or snake bird in tupi language which is now extinct but was part of Brazil Tupi language in the past. The anhinga is a water bird that spends it time diving for fish and then spear it with it long slender beak. The anhinga can't fly well with wet wings so they spend a good amount of time drying their feathers and you will see them with their wings spread out to dry along the waters edge. This Anhinga managed to pose for several photos with the white fog background it looked like he was at the studio and had come in for a selfie.

Prickly Poppie Close Up Vertical

Prickly Poppie Close Up Vertical - We love the wildflowers in Texas even our prickly poppies. Prickly poppies grow quite well in the Texas hill country and this year they are plentiful. I love the feathery leaves and orange stamens in the center. The pedals of the flower are paper thin and appear winkled and photographing them can be difficult just a slight breeze and the feathery pedals move. The poppy flower are about 18 inch tall and in bud the three sepals end in hornlike spines. They are common to see in the texas hill country and to some degree they can become a problem as they can take over and push out other wildflowers in the area. Prickly poppies can come in different colors not just white like in the hill country but can be pink, lavender to yellow depending on where they are located. If poppies come up in large numbers in an area you are less likely to see other texas wildflowers the next year at the same site. Deer nor cows will eat them so not much want to chow down on these plentiful wildflowers. The native americans did use the poppy for many purpose and many herbalist still use part of the flower to treat ailments today.

Spiny Prickly Pear 2

Spiny Prickly Pear 2 - This is close up vertical macro of the spiny prickly pear that you can find growning any where in Texas. Prickly pear are very popular plants for gardens as they require very little water. Most like the more ornamental types that do not have the spines on them. They are our course not defenseless plants, it just that the spines are very small and thin like hairs but they can be quite painful once you get them on your body. The spines of prickly pear will burn and sting so alway beware to be careful around them.

Majestic Longhorns at Sunset

Majestic Longhorns at Sunset - This Texas longhorn on a ranch out in the Texas hill country had been gradually coming towards us seem to be a friendly type he actually hung around for some time. We capture this longhorn and created a composite of the sky and steer together as this truely majestic beast deserved! It is difficult to get the longhorns or any cattle for that matter to get them to look up as their head are usually in the grass eating, but this one seem to very interested in visiting. Those majestic horns always put in me in awe but I have to admit they also scare me, maybe its the way they can whip there heads around so fast with those 6 foot horns following. More people are killed in the Texas by cattle than pit bulls always something to keep in the back of your mind. In most herds there is always at least one bull so you never know as we have found out and in many places in Texas their are no fences just cattle guards. At the same time longhorns are kept because they are known to be less tempermental than some other breeds. Also available in black and white.
