Pedernales Falls Sunset Reflections

Pedernales Falls Sunset Reflections - We made a trip back to the pedernales falls state park in the Texas hill country and found this reflecting pool as the sun set. Actually the clouds had gone from the west, but as I turned around there was my shot facing east as the clouds had back lit the sky with these wonderful colors and was reflecting into this pool of water. This water had pooled in the limestone pockets that had been created from years of flooding. This nice pool of water had reflected the color of the sky along with the moon in one of the many smaller pockets in the limestone. This area has a lot of granite along with weathered limestone being a softer rock it leaves these wonderful pockets for collecting large to small pools of water through out the park. This dramatic sunset with the pool over the rocky terrain of the Texas hill country landscape gave us another nice show today! This area has some very nice natural waterfalls flowing but right now there is not a lot of the waterfalls flowing because we haven't had the rains. It is still a dramatic colorful scene. Pedernales Falls State Park is a 5,212-acre state park situated along the banks of the Pedernales River in Blanco County, Texas in the United States. The nearest town is Johnson City Texas. The pedernales river begins in Kimble country and flows 105 miles through the pedernales falls park and into lake travis. This shot has become one of favorites captures along the pedernales river check out our gallery for more great Texas landscapes. The park is not an easy park to access it reguires good knees and a bit of billy goat and a lot of hiking to access the rocky river bed.
