Palo Duro Canyon Lighthouse Sunset Pano
Palo Duro Canyon Lighthouse Sunset Pano - I started out at the the trail head for the Lighthouse at Palo Duro Canyon State Park and as I was moving down the lighthouse trail up and down across washes and old river beds it was more difficult than anticipated especially with 40 pounds of camera gear and tripod. The hike to the Lighthouse rock is a 6 mile round trip and I had to cross many dry river bed washes and rocky terrain then up and down so not an easy trek, but got through after a couple of hours one way. My plan was to catch a sunset so it would reguire walking back in the dark so you want to get every last shot you can. Once I got to the trail lighthouse and rested up a bit I climb up to a higher rocky platform level to capture this image of the lighthouse with some nice clouds in a panorama at sunset. To the north when I first got here there was some really dark skies to the north and it briefly rained but I was not detered. Storms I have found can make some skies afterward so after the rain passed I started taking photos right as the sunset started going down with these cloudy skies. The palo duro canyon capitol was formed millions of years ago by water, wind erosion. Water erosion over the millennia has shaped the canyon's geological formations. Palo Duro Canyon was formed by water erosion from the Red River. The water deepens the canyon by moving sediment downstream. Wind and water erosion gradually widen the canyon. Now I can say when it come to wind this whole area of the Texas Panhandle was so windy so this is not a shock. Most of the terrain in the panhandle is very flat and as you drive up to the state park you start to see some major changes in the landscape from flat to big wide gullies until you get into the park. There you can see for a good distance across the vast area of the canyons with peak and valleys. Palo Duro Canyon is the second largest canyon in the United States with the largest being the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Many call this the texas grand canyons.
This image was just used to 2023 to make a 45 foot wall mural that will wrap around the inside walls of a bike shop in Amarillo. For info on mural please contact us directly.

Texas Hill Country River Sunset Pano -

The river flow through the hill country from springs near Kimble County east through Fredericksburg through Blanco County through Stonewall, Johnson City, and continues it flow into Lake Travis on the west side of Travis County in Central Texas. Fiery Sunset over Wildflower Panorama
Fiery Sunset over Wildflower Panorama - We were so lucky to of found this wonderful field of Texas wildflowers on the back roads of Texas in a panorama. It was the perfect blend of bluebonnets and indian paintbrush we have seen this year not to mention a great sunset that lit up the sky after it went down. We had been here earlier in the day and took several shots but decided we would come back for sunset and I am so glad we did it turn out beautiful. Just a big beautiful field of red and blue with so many texas bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes in a big field at sunset, what could make for a better capture for 2023.

Colorful Dawn Port Aransas Pier
Colorful Dawn Port Aransas Pier - This is the magic hour before the sunrise when the colors in the sky cast these wonderful colors of violet and orange glow rays into the sky. The caldwell pier light were still on and illuminated the waves as they rolled onto the beach on this early am capture. The reflections in the surf with the pier as a backdrop with the colorful sky enhanced this capture this beach scene as the tide rolled over the wet sand giving off this ripple effect. The long exposure created a softer look over the surf for this dreamy capture with these wonderful ripples effect and cast wonderful color in the sky over this texas pier. The sky picked up these wonderful violet crown colors of the pre dawn with colorful rays in the sky. Port Aransas or Port A for short is a favorite place for us to visit along the Texas coast. Port A is located about ten miles from the Corpus Christi. Along the way from Corpus you cross Mustang Island and the North Padre Island Seashore so there are many beaches to enjoy along the way. Port A beach is in the gulf of mexico where the weather is mild most of the year with the exceptions of the summer and it is a quick place to get some nice beach scenes. The Texas coast with this nice beach ready for a day of fishing, swiming, surfing or just enjoying the view. Another exceptional morning seascape to start the day! The iconic Horace Caldwell pier juts out 1200 feet into the gulf of mexico and is a favorite place for fishing, swiming or just beach walking. This is a two to one pano.

Texas Colorful Sunrise Port A Caldwell Pier Pano
Texas Colorful Sunrise Port A Caldwell Pier Pano - We spent a week at our friend house in Port A Texas and capture this image of Caldwell fishing pier shortly before sunrise as a panorama. You never know what you will get along the Texas gulf coast along the beach. Port Aranassa Pass is just across the ferry and about thirty minutes from Corpus Christi. Heading toward Corpus Christi you can get to mustang island, along with the North Padre National Seashore. Since covid had reared it ugly head it has been hard to go places like we had before so this trip worked out perfectly. We liked the gentle tide from the long exposure in this colorful panorama under the caldwell pier. The gulf of mexico surf was was running kind of high so doing a long exposure created this smooth waves across the sand. This whole area is part of the mustang island and padre island seashore that run from Port A to the Mexico border.

Sunrise at Driftwood Beach Pano 0262
Sunrise at Driftwood Beach Pano - Jekyll Island driftwood beach with trees in the sand at sunrise as a 3 to 1 panorama. It was a beautiful morning sunrise with these fablous trees that seem to magicly grow from the sands along driftwood beach at Jekyll island. This has been a location we have wanted to go to for some time now. Driftwood beach or boneyard beach as some have coined the phase because of all the trees and limbs that seem to magically grow from the sands along the beach. This view of this tree at sunrise looks out at the Altantic Ocean something we never get to see. This old tree that is still planted in the sand gave some nice reflections along the wet sand at sunrise reflecting back the wonderful colors from the sky. Jekyll Island is part of the Golden Isles of Georgia barrier islands.

Atlantic Serenity Sunrise Pano
Atlantic Serenity Sunrise Pano - A stunning abstract over the Atlantic ocean at sunrise as the sky light up with a magical golden glow reflecting over the waters and sandy beach. We capture this image just as the morning sunrise with this long exposure to smooth out the surf and waves effect for a minimilist style photograph of ocean at dawn. I consider this smooth textures to between surreal to a impressionist style image perfect for home, hositality, hotels use. I think this technique add to the soft pastel colors of this soft exposure over the alantic ocean landscape. It is a landscape of pastel colors of blue and gold over the smooth ocean waves, and colorful sunrise sky in the alantic ocean with an impressionist abstract style. This captures the tranquility of the moment with just sky, clouds, and water at sunrise. This would create a nice tranquil image for any location.

Golden Glow over Bluebonnet Landscape Pano
Golden Glow over Bluebonnet Landscape Pano - Texas Wildflowers - We have been hoping that this farmland in the Texas hill country bluebonnets would come back and this year we got lucky. We capture several images of this field of bluebonnets in a panorama right before sunset which created this nice golden glow over the wildflowers. We came here several times as we never know when or if this bluebonnet landscape will come back again. We spoke with the property owner who was happy we appreciated the wildflowers as much as she did. She was concerned about bad behavior from some people so after this year she started mowing it down. This was a hugh field of texas bluebonnets in the hill country probably the biggest field of wildflowers in years. Even though the rest of the hill country was only so so this year this field came back after several years of no flowers. Some say bluebonnets or lupines come back every couple of years, but we have seen some field never come back but this year we got lucky. These are some of our favorite field of wildflowers landscapes to capture, the texas bluebonnets in the back roads of the Texas. The bluebonnet is native to the area and the state flower of Texas. All bluebonnets are the state flower but the one we capture the most is the Lupinus texensis. This wildflower has the blue colored pea shaped leaves with the white top which have been planted along the roads by the highway dept. since the days of Lady Bird when she promoted native wildflowers in Texas. Sometimes the bluebonnets will have a violet to purple tint depending on the suns angle in this you see the color change because of the low angle of the sun over this field. In any case this goes down in our favorite Texas landscapes of wildflowers.

Sunset over Salt Marsh Jekyll Island Pano
Sunset over Salt Marsh Jekyll Island Pano - Sunset over Salt Marsh at Jekyll Island along the Georgia coast at sunset in a panorama. We had driven by here the day before an saw that it seem to be in the directon of sunset so came back another night to see if we could capture this at high tide. The marshland is all over the Golden Isles barrier island of Georgia. This area got it name from the golden color that occur in winter to these marshes through out the area. The Golden Isles barrier island is a group of island along the Georgia coast including Jekyll Island, Brunswick, and St. Simon. The marshes are import to this areas shrimping industry as without it would not have shrimp. The marshes provide matruation for the shrimp larvie to survive and grow so its very import to economy in this area of Georgia.

Sunset at the Bluebonnet Farm House Pano
Sunset at the Bluebonnet Farm House Pano - Ok we came here a few times over the last several weeks, but we were trying to capture a sunset and found we liked quite a few. This captures a good field of flowers and we capture the sun as it went down and lit up the sky with this orange glow over the farm house and bluebonnets in a panorama. Since the last several year had not been good at this location when we saw how great the bluebonnets look this year in 2023 we had to come back and capture a sunset from this multiple angles. Many refer to this old abandon house as the Marble Falls Bluebonnet Farm House, the bluebonnet house, the bluebonnet farmhouse or even the stone bluebonnet farmhouse, its all good no matter what you call it. When bluebonnet season gets here every year people ask about it because for many years the bluebonnet here did not come up or were mow by the previous owner so lucky for us the previous owner sold and the new owner does't seem to mind all the attention and they have come back. The field of bluebonnets have come back the best in years with just a few prickly pear poppies sprinkled in to make for a great image. This old abandoned house is a landmark for the city of Marble Falls and brings in tourist to see it from all over. We have been capturing bluebonnet image from her for years so check out our collections from the bluebonnet farm house in Marble Falls.

Scenic Fall Texas Hill Country Pano
Scenic Fall Texas Hill Country Pano - We capture this scenic fall frio river pano on our first trip this year into the hill country to capture the autumn season in Garner State Park. The image of of Bald cypress were turning different shades of orange to rusty red color for the fall season the water picked up these wonderful reflections of the trees and old baldy. In the Texas hill country, we don't have a big fall season but this year turn our very nice. In the Texas Hill country depending on weather condition we can get some nice autumn colors. In Texas we go from drought to floods not to mention the temperature can affect the color changes in fall. So if our summers or not too bad and we get a little rain then we can see some colors changes on some years. Many years the leave just fall off because of drought conditions. Luckily for us this year looks like we are getting some nice color. Getting to the park when it open was the best time to capture the best light. I had waded out into the cold Frio River to get this image of the cypress along the Frio river and old baldy with these great reflections. So I got my bathing suit on and waded into the cold Frio river to capture this image. The light was soft, and with no wind the water was still and we captured some excellent reflections of the bald cypress and old baldy down the Frio River in the Garner with nice blue skies and whispy clouds. Cypress trees turn a golden shade and then turn orange to a rusty red right before they go brown and fall off. Garner State Park is a popular park and it visited year round by many people in some cases they close the park before noon for day visiters especially in the summer time. My favorite time is fall it just so peaceful this time of year.

Bluebonnet Road Sunset Pano
Bluebonnet Road Sunset Pano - We love this county dirt road in the Texas Hill country in spring with the bluebonnets lining the road and the hills behind as the sunsets in the west. You can get a feel for the rural hill country here with the texas bluebonnets and hills with this wonderful texas sunset. The back road in Texas hill country are always less traveled but can be beautiful places where you can see for a great distance in some places with some very nice traditional texas scenery. Add a few bluebonnets wildflowers and you have a nice texas hill country landscape with texas bluebonnets what more can you ask for. This is a place where we come every year first to check for bluebonnets as it is a great place to see bluebonnets if we are having a good year. In this area you are just as likely to see a 2000 pound bull come walking across the road in front of you so it is pretty much a very natural setting. As always with Texas lupines its up to our fall weather rather we have a good year or a bad year this was a pretty good year for wildflowers.

Lake Travis Sunrise Pano
Lake Travis Sunrise Pano - We capture the sunrise over this marina on Lake Travis outside of Austin in the Texas hill country. The water was perfectly still and just as the sky begins to light up with these wonderful colors of reds, pinks, orange, and deep blues it back lit the colorful clouds in the lake and with enough light to see these sailboats with boat and cloud reflections in the calm water. It is seldom that the water is still enough to get good reflections of these sailboats at the marina, but today it work out well today. This was our second trip to this spot as the week before there were no clouds but both images turned out well. We were able to capture the sailboats all lined up with their mast reflecting in the smooth waters of Lake Travis with the sky reflected into the waters. Lake Travis is located in Travis county about a thirty minute drive from downtown Austin Texas, of course it depends on what time of day you travel it could be up to an hour and half at peak traffic times. Lake Travis is considered part of the Texas hill country which goes for over a thousand miles. B Austin share Lake travis with several smaller cities like Lakeway, Lago Vista, Leander and many other unincorporated areas. The Texas Hill Country begins in the north where the rolling plains and prairies ends at the Balcones Escarpment in the south and east and extends west to Edwards Plateau. San Antonio and Austin are the two largest citys in the Texas hill country. The Austin area has been steadly growning at a record pace for some time so it is not common to be able to capture any place that is not full of people and boats coming and going. Thats why early morning is the perfect time, yet where we live on the lake it not possible to get this still waters, because the fishermen are speeding up and down the lake at breakneck speed to get to that favorite fishing hole long before the sun comes up.

Smoky Mountain Sunset Pano
Smoky Mountain Sunset Pano - We had these amazing clouds and awesome sky come in just as I was trying to capture the sunset in this panorama along the blue ridge parkway. You can see the fall color just starting to pop in this scenic view along this hill side and along the ridges and peak in the smokies with their reds, yellows, and oranges. The sunset sparkled just as it was going down behind the mountains ridges in the distant view. The blue ridge mountains make sense after you see the hazy blue colors along the ridges which actually come from something the trees release, isoprene, which is responsible for the blue color in the distance views. In the Great Smoky Mountains you may be seeing 100 miles even across state from some of the overlooks. The smoky mountain cross North Caroline, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Appalachians mountain are part of the great smoky mountains.

The Road to Chisos Pano
The Road to Chisos Pano - Big Bend National Park Chisos Mountain Range
We capture this pano as we turned onto the Ross Maxwell Scenic drive in Big Bend National Park. We love the look of the road as it led into the Chisos Mountain Range in Big Bend National Park nice shadow from the the clouds overhead. We had some nice clouds and it frame the image just as we turned so that it seemed we would drive straight into the the Window from the other side of the Chisos Mountains in west Texas. This mountain range was created by a volcano millions of years ago which has now gone extinct. When you go into the Chisos Mountains and come to the Chisos Lodge you are in the actual volcano it an extinct so no worries. This is a three to one panorama so it can go big with the highest quality. Also available in a two to one panorama and a large 4 x1 version and in black and white.

Pedernales Falls Panorama
Pedernales Falls Panorama - Pedernales Falls located in the Texas Hill country in Blanco county near Johnson City. We have had an excess of rain this spring and June was no exception so a trip to the pedernales river was on our bucket list. It has been overcast and raining almost daily it seems for the entire month. As soon as I heard the forcast call for clearing of the skies I got down to the Pedernales Fall State Park right before sunset and hiked over bouders, and slabs of granite the size of my house and finally found a spot to capture some images of the water as it flowed over through this shoot and the cloud in the sky went wild for a brief moment. I used a long exposure to capture that smooth flowing waters as it cascaded down over the rocks. The park is located in the Texas hill country near Johnson City TX. The Pedernales Falls State Park is a great place to hike and fish and swim when the water is not flowing so fast. Right now the water is running to fast to swim, but I am sure this will not last long as there are two things you can be sure of in Texas is flooding and then drought. Summer is just begining so we will probaly have a slow down of the rain in the coming weeks.

Hill Country Bluebonnet Sunset Pano 2823
Hill Country Bluebonnet Sunset Pano 2823 - A good size field of texas bluebonnets on this hill side just as the sunset through the trees make for a wonderful capture in this panorama. We found this spot and continued to wait till the twinkle of sunset began to come through and the sky was beging to show it sunset colors. It is located along lake travis with a good bunch of texas bluebonnets for this year. Some refer to these as lupines what ever you call them it all works.

Golden Glow over Bluebonnets Panorama
Golden Glow over Bluebonnets Panorama - A golden glow in the sky as the sun set over this field of Texas Bluebonnet. We had taken shots of this wonderful field of Texas bluebonnets at sunset but something said hang around and we did. The sky errupted with wonderful colors shortly after sunset over this field of bluebonnet wildflowers in the Texas hill country along lake travis. We had this wonderful golden glow after sunset that gave us this very nice capture of bluebonnet pictures in a panorama photo. It was one of those kind of sunset colors you love with the warm yellow or golden color against blue sky and a big field of texas bluebonnets. This park is located in the Texas hill country along lake travis. This is a LCRA park called Turkey Bend that sometimes has wildflowers in Burnet county. For more bluebonnet images check out our collections of Texas hill country bluebonnet gallery

Texas Reds - Firewheels Wildflowers Sunset Pano
Texas Reds - Firewheels Wildflowers Sunset Pano - These beautiful Texas red firewheels or indian blankets with some horse mint wildflowers mixed in makes for a perfect sunset over this wildflower panorama in the Texas hill country. This lovely pecan tree was surrounded by a meadow of Texas red firewheels or indian blankets wildflowers as they are also called. The weather has been overcast for weeks now and we haven't been able to capture these wonderful indian paintbrush in this pasture of Texas wildflowers with enough sun to do them justice. Today we actually saw the sun which brighten up these beauties in this field of wildflowers at the base of this pecan tree in the Texas hill country. The indian blankets got the name because they appeared to blanket an area with colors that were seen in many native americans blankets. Red and yellow were the most likely colors for these wildflower even though they can be completely yellow. The colors range from red leaves with the tips being yellow and or more yellow and less red it all depends, but they are all great. They stand about two feet tall that where they get the name indian blankets as they can cover an area like a blanket with the reds and yellow common in the indian blankets seen in shops.
