Brown Pelican Pose - This pelican was hanging out on the breakers along the ship channel in hopes of the big tankers stiring the fish up so they could scope them up in his oversize beak with it pouch like net that holds his meal. We love to watch pelicans as they fly over the area till they find fish near the surface and dive bomb straight down and scope up fish in their large beaks. The brown pelicans is a large bird around 48 inches tall with a 9 foot wing span you can't miss them. When they fly it like a squadron of jet fighers in perfect order. This adult pelican with its mostly white head and it silver gray feathers on its back and belly shows that it is a mature bird and likely getting it breeding plummage by the touch of yellow on his head. You can find these bird around where people fish hoping for some scrapes of their catch of the day. These birds were almost wiped out by DDT along with other pesticides, but have made a come back since the 1970. Big oil spill also have taken a toll on them such as the deep horizon spill. Gallery quality Canvas wraps are printed on a 400gsm semi-gloss white poly-cotton blend, specifically designed for the high-end fine art and photography markets. The canvas is then wrapped on a 1.5" stretcher framed and will have a mirrored edge. The gallery wrap arrives at your doorstep ready to hang.
