Susie Q the Llama Portrait

Susie Q the Llama Portrait - I name this llama Susie Q because of her big round eyes and long eye lashes, pouting lips along with that stoic and sweet demeaner it just felt right. Llamas are black to brown to a light tan in color. This image of the llama was taken at a wildlife resort near us in a vertical format, it was our first trip to one and we had decided we would drive through in our car, we were just a bit surprise at the complete chaos that went on. We did manage to capture a few photos of this well behave calm Llama and she was one of a few we were able to capture while there in a vertical format. We were surprise when an American bison tried to put his head in the car window so in some cases we decided to just drive on and didn't get the shot because the animals pavlovian conditioning. The Llama is actually a domesticated animal that lives in a herd in South America. This South American camelid, is used for its meat and also as a pack animal by the Andeans. They have the habit of spitting when anoyed like camels or throwing themselves to the ground and refusing to get up or move. Llamas are social animals and live with others as a herd. Their wool is soft and contains only a small amount of lanolin, but not as soft a fur as the alpaca's. These animals are not found in the wild they are a domesticated species. In the United States some keep them as pets as they can be quite friendly. One of our neighbors had two and we would visit with them when we saw them at the fence.
