Sunrise Over Blue Ridge Parkway - We got here about an hour before sunrise to capture the sunrise over the the overlook at the Blue Ridge Parkway and captured the sunrise as it broke through the morning haze and fog with some lovely soft pastel colors. We felt like the image almost look like an abstract painting with these lovely pastel colors of oranges and yellows and reds with the silhouette of the mountain in the distance giving it a dreamy appearance. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Parkway and All-American Road in the United States, noted for its scenic beauty. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the most visited place in the USA. The parkway, which is America's longest linear park, runs for 469 miles through North Carolina and Virginia . The parkway offers some exceptional beauty like now where else. It runs mostly along the Blue Ridge, a major mountain chain that is part of the Appalachian Mountains.
Sun Rising Over Blue Ridge Parkway Pano - We right before sunrise to capture the sunrise from the overlook at the Blue Ridge Parkway and captured the sunrise as it broke through the morning haze and fog with some lovely soft pastel colors. The light would change dramatically as the sun rose higher in the sky bringing out the warmer tones in the hazy sky with the wonderful morning fog in the valleys. We felt like the image almost look like an abstract painting with these lovely pastel colors of oranges and yellows and reds with the silhouette of the mountain in the distance. You can see the the colorful fall color in the trees. The best times to capture images of the Blue Ridge is sunrise in our view. It just brings out some stunning colors and you have the wonderful muted colors and the rivers of fog settling in the valley. We had a nice evening with some clouds and waited till the sun went almost down and the clouds back lit with color. We have been here in the fall but this was our first trip in the spring. Everything was very lush and green. This was a spring time capture that shows the beauty of the Blue Ridge when every thing is all lush and green. You can see far into the distance as the iconic blue haze hovers over the ridges , mountains tops and valley in the distance by something the trees release called isopren which mixes with ozone and gives a blue color over the area, This was along the Cowee Overlook in Jackson county North Carolina all part of the Appalachian Mountains . 6311

Blue Ridge Natural Waterfall - Driving toward the Blue Ridge parkway we heard the sound of a waterfall we were high up above the flowing water so we stopped and headed for the sound. We found a view point where you could see the water flowing down over this granite ledge but we couldn't get to it from below so we capture this raging water from an opening above. It was quite stunning for this natural waterfall flowing over this rocky out crop along this mountain stream in the Blue Ridge near the parkway.
Mountain Stream NC - This is located above the Looking Glass Falls NC and was flowing with the clear spring waters over the many igneous rocks along the way. We stopped to photograph this mountain stream in spring time with lovely greenery as a back drop. The creek actually starts off at the Blue Ridge Parkway and flows down toward Looking Glass Falls and beyond in the Pisgah National Forest. We saw a lot of people fishing for trout along the way as the water stays cool even in the summer 50 to 55 degrees. In some areas of the creek there were other larger fast flowing waterfalls to be found from the spring rains. 6029

Overlooking Looking Glass Falls - Looking Glass Falls is a spectacular, 60-foot waterfall in North Carolinas Pisgah National Forest, The falls are located directly off U.S. 276 near Brevard, This captures another view with the stairs for another perspective of the falls with lush greenery of the area in spring time. The looking Glass Falls are the easiest to see it has several levels to see it from. We had not been here in the spring so it was wonderful to see the lush greenery and beauty at this time of year. It is easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway from here just a easy stop on your visit to the area. 8082

Looking Glass Falls Smoky Mountain B W - Took this picture of looking glass falls in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Looking Glass Falls is one of the most popular and easily accessable waterfalls in North Carolina. The name "Looking Glass" comes from Looking Glass Rock, in the winter the water freezes on the rocks and when the sun hits it appears like a mirror. Also, Looking Glass Creek, which flows past the rock, is also named for the unique and impressive natural structure. Looking glass Falls is a 60 ft waterfall which flows from Looking Glass Creek. Along the bottom you see all the slate and granite as the water flows down the creek.

Autumn Colors at Mingo Waterfalls Vertical NC - Mingo Falls is a 120 ft high waterfall located near the town of Cherokee, Swain County, North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the eastern United States. It is only about five mile from the Smoky Mountain National Park. it was an impressive waterfall with autumn colors surrounding the falls not to mention it is one to the highest waterfalls in southern Appalachians. We came to capture some fall foliage and founds some oranges, and yellows in this area of North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Parkway in this capture of Mingo Falls. It does require you to climb 161 steep steps to get to the viewing platform but I think it was worth it to see this wonderful natural site.
Linn Cove Viaduct - We travel the Blue Ridge Parkway to see this section of the parkway that wraps around Grandfather Mountain in autumn. The colors were great but it was difficult to capture a shot because it was packed on this day. The Linn Cove Viaduct hugs the face of Grandfather Mountain and is recognized internationally as an engineering marvel. It took years to finish this last section of the parkway and was finally completed in 1987. This was the last section of the Parkway to be completed and a model of the construction technique highlights a visit to the Linn Cove Visitor Center. You can see the visitor center in this capture with all the fall colors surrounding this area.
Cades Cove Sparks lake in Autumn Smoky Mountains National Park - It was a lovely morning drive into Cades Coves Tennessee in the Smoky Mountain National Park to capture these autumn colors. We drove the Cades Cove loop to capture this famous road in Cades Cove called Spark lane with the Smoky Mountains as a backdrop. We captured Sparks Lane with all the fall colors on the trees in the early morning light with the mountain behind. We loved that the trees were all turning from yellow to orange colors with the contrast of the green grass along side of the road it made for some great contrast along the fence line. The road was busy so we had to wait for some time for the cars to move on to capture this landscape image but we were glad we made the trip to see this wonderful scenic scene at the foothills of the Smoky mountains in Tennessee. It is easy to see why so many settlers wanted to live in this valley especially if they came in fall
Fall Foliage on Sparks Lane Cades cove Smoky Mountains National Park - We like this capture with the fall foliage colors popping out on the trees in front of the Smoky mountain behind in the early morning capture. It was a lovely morning drive into Cades Coves in the Smoky Mountain National Park to capture these autumn colors. We captured Sparks Lane with all the fall colors on the trees in the early morning light with the mountain behind. We loved that the trees were all turning from yellow to orange colors with the contrast of the green grass along side the road it made for some great colorful contrast along the fence line. Dry Falls waterfall is a 75 ft tall waterfall in the Nantahala National Forest. Dry Falls was also part of National Scenic Byway and easily accessable along the route which was good after two days of going from sunrise to sunset. Dry Falls, is quite popular waterfall and is a few miles outside of Highlands near Cherokee NC. Also you can walk behind this waterfall but when I tried I could tell my camera would get wet so I decided against photographing from there, but it does give you a chance to get behind it. There are several observation area to get your photos in the area that are accessible for most people. The tree were just starting to show some fall colors as autumn comes around in the Smoky Mountains from early October to the first of November it all depends on your elevations and the locations.
