Longhorn in Bluebonnets

04-15-2024

Longhorn in Bluebonnets - We were out taking photos of the longhorns in the hill country when the owner came by and offer us an opportunity to come on to his property and take photos of his longhorns in the bluebonnets in the back fields. So we came back the next evening to photograph the longhorns. Now he had them in a small pasture in the back and while he offered us both a chance to be locked with over a dozen longhorns Tod walk right in I decided to take my images from the safety of the other side of the fence. If anyone tells you longhorns or slow don't believe them they were moving with lightning speed trying to get a away from the stranger with the camera. Not to mention occasionally charging in trying to horn him which made me sure my decision was the best one. The owner said they were stressed because they didn't know us but he would be fine. We both got some great close up shots of the cows and steers standing in the bluebonnets. The owner has some names but this one I call pretty face with those big eyes and pretty markings which was a brown and white longhorn with patches of white standing in this field of Texas bluebonnets. The owner say he was going to allow these longhorns to live out their lives on his ranch but was out of the cattle business. It always good to capture longhorn cattle standing in some Texas blueblonnets, matter of fact the reason his bluebonnets look so good is the cattle keep the grasses down so the bluebonnets or lupines thrive.
